The low-altitude economy has taken off and opened up a new blue ocean of "trillion scale"

Recently, the first low-altitude short-haul transport route between Shenzhen and Zhuhai in Guangdong province was officially opened. Passengers can take a helicopter from Shenzhen Nantou Heliport to Zhuhai Jiuzhou Airport, reducing the travel time from about 2 hours to 20 minutes. This provides a new choice for business, tourism and family travel, and further enriche the integrated transportation network system of the Greater Bay Area. The rapid opening of the Shenzhen - Zhuhai low-altitude short-haul route is a microcosm of the local occupation of the new low-altitude economic track.

 

What is "low-altitude economy"? As a strategic emerging industry, low-altitude economy generally refers to the economic form generated by various types of aircraft conducting various flight activities and radiation in low-altitude airspace below 1000 meters, mainly including low-altitude aircraft manufacturing, low-altitude operation services, low-altitude infrastructure construction and low-altitude flight support four segments, specifically covering two major scenarios: residential consumption and industrial application. It shows the characteristics of strong industrial chain, complex application scenarios, multiple use subjects, and obvious radiation effects, and its development mainly relies on technological progress, policy support and market demand.

 

Scientific and technological innovation is the core driving force of low-altitude economic development. Technological advances have provided safer and more efficient aircraft and flight control systems for low-altitude flights.

 

In recent years, China's low-altitude economic development environment has continued to improve, and policy measures have been continuously optimized. Not long ago, the "General Aviation Equipment Innovation Application Implementation Plan (2024-2030)" jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other four departments proposed that by 2030, the low-altitude economy will be promoted to form a trillion-level market scale. Provinces and cities are also accelerating the layout of low-altitude economic racetracks and competing to build a "sky city." As a comprehensive economic form spawned by new quality productivity, low-altitude economy has gradually emerged with the continuous progress of science and technology and the strong empowerment of policies, ushering in a major opportunity period, 2024 is also known as "the first year of low-altitude economy".

 

Application scenarios are a key part of the low-altitude economic industry chain. The expansion to the low altitude is not only the expansion of scale, but also the expansion of dimension, bringing unlimited new economic resources.

 

When the low-altitude economy ushered in the wind, the over trillion market size contained behind it gradually emerged, showing great potential. Some institutions estimate that in 2023, the scale of China's low-altitude economy will reach 505.95 billion yuan, with a growth rate of 33.8%.

 

From a regional perspective, local governments flexibly use various financial tools to promote the coordinated development of various industrial links in the low-altitude economy, and the advantages of industrial agglomeration are obvious, showing their own industrial characteristics.

 

It should also be noted that compared with the mature airspace management and commercial operation of high-altitude flight, the development of China's low-altitude economy is still in its infancy and faces some uncertainties.

 

Guiding the low-altitude economy to take off and helping the low-altitude economy to "fly" higher and "fly" faster is based on optimizing the low-altitude flight service support system.

 

It is necessary to fully release the momentum of low-altitude airspace management reform, optimize the allocation of airspace resources, improve the efficiency of airspace resource management, expand the opening of low-altitude airspace, improve the effectiveness of safety supervision, and establish and improve the low-altitude airspace management laws and regulations system. At the same time, it is necessary to consolidate low-altitude infrastructure, make full use of helipads and other navigation infrastructure, and promote the upgrading of communications and navigation, meteorological equipment, energy and power, low-altitude airspace control system, UAV flight information system and other supporting infrastructure. It is expected that with the vigorous development of low-altitude economy, "air taxi" can accelerate into the public life, bring more diversified travel choices for the majority of consumers, and add more surging growth momentum for the economy.
