The 10th anniversary of the opening of the China-Europe Express (Yiwu-Madrid) departs from Madrid

Xinhua News Agency, Madrid, May 9 The 10th anniversary of the opening of the China-Europe Railway (Yiwu-Madrid) train set off from the Abronigal station in the Spanish capital Madrid on Monday.

 

According to the operator of the China-Europe Railway (Yiwu-Madrid), the train, loaded with 70 standard containers of auto parts, wine and other goods, will pass through France, Kazakhstan and other countries, is expected to arrive in Yiwu, Zhejiang province at the end of May this year, with a total journey of 13,052 kilometers.

 

At the departure ceremony, Yi Lianhong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang Province, said that in the past ten years, the China-Europe Railway (Yiwu - Madrid) has gallop across Asia and Europe, goods to the world, mutual benefit between the two places, and people's hearts, helping to create a new pattern of international transport between China and West, and running out of the "acceleration" of interconnection between China and West. He said that the 10th anniversary of the China-Europe Railway Express (Yiwu-Madrid) will be taken as an opportunity to deepen practical cooperation and promote the cooperation and exchanges between Zhejiang and Spain to a new level.

 

Chinese Ambassador to Spain Yao Jing said in his speech that the operation of the China-Europe Express (Yiwu-Madrid) has expanded the scale of bilateral trade between China and Spain, especially the return train has opened up a new channel for the export of Spanish special goods to China. The economies of China and Spain are highly complementary, with a high degree of compatibility between priority industries and steady development of economic and trade cooperation. Both sides are willing to further deepen practical cooperation in economic and trade fields.

 

Alicia Barrera, Director General of the Department of International Trade and Investment of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise of Spain, said at the departure ceremony that in 2023, Spain will export a total of 39 million euros of goods and import a total of 48 million euros of goods through the China-Europe Express (Yiwu-Madrid). She said that the train not only connects the two countries and regions by rail, but also symbolizes the cooperation and friendship between China and Spain.

 

Borja Van Hul, president of Madrid City, said that in addition to trade between the two countries, Madrid and even the Spanish people have become more and more interested in Chinese culture in recent years. The China-Europe Express (Yiwu-Madrid) connects not only business, but also people's hearts.

 

It is understood that the first China-Europe train (Yiwu-Madrid) was sent from Yiwu on November 18, 2014.
