  • Yiwu's Export to Africa Increased Steadily

  •     The economic and trade exchanges between Yiwu and Africa have become increasingly frequent, and Africa has become one of the most important export destinations of Yiwu market. It is reported that in the first seven months of this year, Yiwu's exports to Africa amounted to RMB 34.75 billion, with an increase of more than 10% over the same period of last year, accounting for 24% of Yiwu's total export.
        According to statistics, there are more than 2,500 permanent foreign businessmen from over 50 African countries and regions and more than 95,000 inbound African businessmen every year in Yiwu. Egypt and Algeria are among the top ten export destination countries of Yiwu. Yiwu's exports to Africa are mainly labor-intensive products, such as mechanical and electrical products, plastic products, garments, shoes and hats.
        At the same time, the huge consumer market of China has also brought business opportunities to African commodities. Yiwu China Import Commodity Mart "African Products Exhibition and Marketing Center" has become the gathering place for a large number of African merchants to display and sell products with African characteristics. There are dozens of pavilions here including South Africa, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Madagascar, Sudan, Kenya and other countries, which are mainly dealing in more than 5,000 kinds of African goods such as ebony products, handicrafts and jewelry. By depending on the import trade "bridgehead" of Yiwu, "Made in Africa" has being overwhelming in the world. "
        Relevant data shows that in the recent years, Yiwu's exports to Africa have maintained growth momentum. In 2016, the export amount of Yiwu to Africa was RMB 50.55 billion, increasing by 2.7% year on year and in 2017, it was RMB 53.31 billion, increasing by 5.5% year on year.
